This is SHALOM - people whose lives are enriched through good times, going places and knowing the joy of living. We are people who realize that joy does not have to be disabled.
Some disabilities we have no choice over. But many disabilities are of the heart and spirit. And they are a choice. A disability of the heart is the only kind over which we grieve.
Too often we only see the outside; we only see what we cannot do; we say "that's too bad." We live in the "if only" of a life never to be. And most of the time, "we" are the ones more disabled than not. Disability of the heart is the worst.
But joy does not have to be disabled! Wholeness reaches beyond the physical and mental. Together we walk toward wholeness in Jesus Christ. Together we learn to choose joy and wholeness. Sappy I know - but consider the options and sappy is real living.
SHALOM is all about enriching lives in the wholenss of Jesus Christ. We are a community, a network of homes, care providers and individuals where belonging is normal and love is a learned ability.
Want to know what Chip and Mark know? It all starts with knowing the acceptance of Jesus Christ. It continues as shalom (deep, inner peace and wholeness) filters into relationships and homes. When alone we all are disabled. When we belong - body and soul to Jesus Christ - and enter into whole relationships with one another - we enter a new world of abilities in Christ.
